The Middletown community lost an incredible man in Jim
Bransfield, who passed away last Saturday.
Bransfield was a long time social studies teacher and aide
at the school, sports writer and columnist at the Middletown
Press, frequent PA announcer at football and baseball games in
the area, and mentor to all in the school community. Years after
his retirement from teaching, he still faciliated graduation and
other events around the high school.
He was also the advisor of Blue Prints while he still worked
at the school. Under his watch, the newspaper was a consistent
national award winning paper and won various accolades.
But more importantly, he stoked a passion in the students
he oversaw, for scholastic journalism and the importance of
reliability, accuracy, and the truth.
Even after passing the title of Advisor on, he still remained
involved with our current staff and would visit staff meetings
often to speak to students.
Blue Prints mourns his loss and wishes peace to his family,
friends, and community, all of whom will miss him dearly.
